How it started
A simple question about tired eyes
Our journey began with a simple but powerful question: how can we help people study and work productively without the common eye strain caused by traditional screens?
In a world where digital tools were limited and learning often challenging, we saw a clear need to combine the comfort of traditional reading with modern technology. Founded in 2009, BOOX—pronounced “books”—started with the mission to enhance productivity while protecting your eyes.
Our first eReader launched that year, marking the start of a revolution in how students, professionals and readers in New Zealand and beyond experience digital reading and note-taking. Today, BOOX continues to innovate with advanced E Ink tablets designed to support your work and study habits with clarity and ease.
